Come and stay a while!

Invermere BC's premier camping experience.

Our Story

The Lake Windermere District Lions Club was chartered Oct 25, 1951.  The first meeting was held in the Coronation Hotel and Ray Tippy was elected as the first President of the Club.  In 1953, the club purchased the 243-acre Morigeau property from the BC government.

Initially they harvested trees from the property as a means to raise funds, then built the ball diamonds, then built the Centennial Information and arts building in 1966-67 ( the location that currently houses the Chamber of Commerce Information Centre and Lions Hall).  In 1977, the Lions spearheaded a drive to complete the Lake View Manor and they continue to participate in the Manor operations today with having Lions Members serve on the board.

In accordance with the BC Government's caveat on use of this land, the Lions entered into a lease arrangement that resulted in the building of the Copper Point Golf Course.  Revenues generated from this agreement, along with other Lions fundraising endeavors, has contributed to construction of Lions Park, Pothole Park, and the Crossroads Ball Diamonds.  It also allows the Lions to continue their ongoing support and assistance to community youth sports organizations, individual  medical needs, Guide Dogs of Canada,  scholarships and disaster relief programs locally and beyond.

With our latest project of building this campground, our hope is to continue to fund even more worthwhile projects locally.
